The MN Transform Project at Minneapolis College was a class at Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC) that explored the intersection of arts and social justice in Twin Cities BIPOC communities, in the wake of the George Floyd uprisings and the pandemic. The anthology We Are Meant to Rise: Voices for Justice from Minneapolis to the World was the course's central text, and students discussed, analyzed, and responded to the proactive essays therein throughout the semester. The class also received visits from many of the book's authors. The class was offered tuition-free for students, thank to support from MNT.
Each student was required to complete an individual and collaborative project by the end of the course, very broadly exploring some aspect of social justice and BIPOC communities in Minnesota. The projects you see here are from those students who elected to share them publicly. The first painting is by Leigh Kenneally.
