Clarence 'Cap' Wigington was a prominent and influential Black architect, who worked in the Twin Cities in an era when few African Americans were able to become part of the profession. Drawing on David Taylor's biography of Wigington and a series of conversations with local historians Frank White and Barbara Bezat, Andrew North Jr. and Catherine R. Squires created a StoryMap which maps Wigington’s numerous works onto the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Entitled “Cap Wigington’s Saint Paul Legacy,'' the StoryMap includes a chronicle of Wigington’s buildings, never constructed designs, images of Wigington’s work, a timeline of Wiginton’s career, and reflections written by collaborator Andrew North Jr. on their experience as a biracial architecture student of African American descent working on this project.
