About the project

Oral History
Interview

The Pillsbury House Oral History Project is one step in the organization's long-term goal of envisioning how their space can be an abolitionist site of social action in the South Minneapolis neighborhood.

Coordinated by University of Minnesota graduate student Treasure Tinsley, the Oral History Project documents the experiences of individuals connected to the theater’s community. As an effort to bring together all of the voices which have shaped Pillsbury House and Theatre’s history, the Oral History Project is an ongoing effort to interview artists, residents, and neighbors of the surrounding community alongside Pillsbury staff and leadership. The oral histories collected for this project will soon be made accessible to the public.

The Pillsbury House Oral History Project began in the summer of 2021 as a collaboration between Minnesota Transform and Pillsbury House and Theatre. Minnesota Transform supports the funding of one graduate student in conducting the oral histories and research, stipends for each of the interviewees, and contributing costs of artistic interpretation of the oral histories.
